House Project: Finalizing things
Out of the 5 appointments we had, i do not like the 2.
Itu yang aku rasa pada waktu inilah, in the future I do not know. I do not have the work chemistry with them. My first impression on them .... they don't seem to give focus on my instruction. I hate it that they linger around even after I told them what to do, where to measure. and they always stick with each other. and worst after I have finished with them, they follow us every where!
Sorry for this bad impression but I was actually trying very hard not to lose my patience with them. well at least the tinted contracter, wendy gets my message. And guess what? she warned me against ah wuen. She said his work is no longer good... I am not sure what happenned between them, but obviously they no longer working together.
Ah chuen macam blur. his quotation is 4k plus. that is to relocate electrical point, additional power point and 1 additional aircond point. dia masukkan sekali upah pasang kipas dan lampu. tapi sebab bila aku tanya dia, jawapan dia slow motion, he is not the kind yang aku boleh work with.
Langsir contracter, I don't have problem at this stage. The kitchen cabinet pun ok. tindak balas quite cepat.cuma aku tak suka bila the hood switch solution tak berapa best. I need to discuss again with her. langsir punya problem is the master bedroom. tu pun i kena discuss lagi.
I realized I need to give extra attention to the wiring job, kittchen cab, wardrobe and langsir...i need to finda a good electrician very very soon. He needs to finish everything in 3 days max. Otherwise my schedule akan lari.....

House Projects : Quotation & site visit
Ok... a good project manager will try his/her level best to meet the deadline as well as not to burst the cost. The earlier tu ok, yang latter tu.. hehehehehe.. nama pun pempuan kannnn! Kerja lain, ni rumah ok.. rumahhhh.... huhuhuhu...
Anyway, after numerous calls sana sini, dengan orang incharged nya tak ada, akhirnya the sales person Luke, called back today. And he said it is ok, he can open the house to do the measurement. The work however will only commence on mid December.
So I called these people to take measurement and quotation:
1. Jack for the curtain
2. Ah wuen for the grill and naikkan wall belakang dan depan as well as awning
3. Ben for the tinted window
4. Ah choong for the electrical work
5. Mr hong for the kitchen cabinet and wardrobe.
So the appointment will be tomorrow. I am sure I will be very very busy entertaining them. And not to jumble and mix things up, I need to prepare a good note book of my request for each of them.
Hurray for the good project management negotiation skill... hehehehe...(relaxxx... it is only the beginning kannnnn...)

House Projects : Revised timeline
We come to know that the key handover might be delayed to 2nd week of December.
So... if we still want to move by 27th December 2012, we have to shorten the timeline into 2 weeks.
And I have nothing now........

House Projects : Projects kick-off .... meeting?
Hehehehe...
Kalau project dah nak start, tentulah ada kick-off meeting.
(Teringat zaman masa aku baru kerja , tak paham kenapa di panggil kick-off meeting ekekeke kampungggg sangattttt)
Selalunya akan kick-off bila budget dah di approve by the management or stakeholders or etc. Designs dah approve, timeline dah approve etc.
Tapi sebab I lah chairman, I lah COO, I lah project manager dan I lah designer, maka semua tu bergantung pada aku... yer aku seorang. CEO aka hubby, cuba bagi approval yang setakat nama jer lah kan... Kalau dia tak approve, aku akan justifykan sampai dia approve, cemana tu? ekekekekke....tapi ada juga yang "eh! tetiba dia punya insight tu boleh solve kan problems...". Walaupun at the time I disagree (contohnya on item window tints) tapi lama2 aku rasa oklah kot if we take this item out from our list....

3. Fully functional bedrooms (with wardrobe, fans, study table, night lamp, optional : air-conditioner)
4. Part of dining room (built in buffet table)
Timeline and work breakdown structure:
1st week of Dec
1. expected to get the key and to complete the administrative works on the house (meter air, tnb etc)
2. get the kitchen/bedroom/laundry contractor to come and do final measurement
3. get the curtain guy to come and do final measurement and finalized on quotation
4. Get the electrician to come and finalize the additional point/relocation and finalize on quotation
5. finalize on paint color and comparison with cost of wallpaper
6. Get plumber to relocate laundry outdoor and indoor quotation (nak suruh basuh tangki ok ker?)
7. To arrange ADT people to do onsite visit and provide quotation and planning
2nd week of Dec
1. Electrician to relocate/additional power (dah ada electric ker agaknya by 2nd week? die la gini too rush, i need to push people a lot nampaknya)
2. Plumber to relocate for laundry
3. Painting work to commence
4. should the electrician help to pasang lights, fans now or later?
5. finalize on cost of lorry to move to new house and to remove bulky items from the old house.
3rd week of Dec
1. Kitchen cabinet, laundry cabinet, dining room cabinet and all wardrobe to be assembled.
2. To manage the school relocation of dd and ds.
3. To finalize kindergarten for baby dylan
4. To finalize on taska (maid sempat tak nak join grrr)
5. To finish all packing at the old house
6. Arrange all bulky items to be thrown away.
7. Arrange school transport to and from to new school
4th week of Dec (final week - please be aware that there is christmas holiday so work may not be able to continue during public holiday)

I did not really expect to get all the furnitures in at the same time since we have limited budget. But it will be nice to start decorate.

House Project: Decisions, decisions
Last week we are a bit behind in packing the house things.
We sent both of our elder children to Kampung for "Quran camp". DD is about 2 juz away to khatam. At 10 years old considered very very slow. Nilah bahananya kalau mak bapak bekerja.... Memang tak ada masa nak ajar sendiri. Nak hantar kat orang, macam tak jumpa orang berkaliber kat kawasan ni. (or maybe we are too busy to even find one).
Kami hantar mereka buat hafazan di Darul Huffaz but not to mengajar tajwid dan Quran tu yang pending khatam Quran tu.
DS we are not that ambitious. Tak habis pun iqrak dia but since he can read, merangkak sikitlah.. bolehlah dah kenal huruf. We targeted 2 juz for him for this 2 weeks. Considering that I khatam semasa pergi Baitul Maqdis-Madinah-Mekah hari tu dalam masa 2 minggu, maka I think if they focus, they can too.
My father 2 hari jer boleh khatam.. ha kan. I rasa baik lah jangan ambitious sangat..... slowly but surely.
Strictly no phone and no ipad for them.
My target next Dec 2013 is to khatankan si baby Dylan. Selepas phobia khatan kan si DS masa baby, memang lepas tu I cannot go through this again. I am planning to him to sleep so less stress for everyone. I hope that will turn out well. He is still my little baby in my eyes...
Decisions this weeks are for:
1. renewal of tenancy of our Singapore homes
2. Best period to end tenancy for our rental home in Malaysia
3. Things to omit on our house projects
4. Fund for our new house.
So that makes me headache and depressed. I am still hoping I can do all but I think I have to accept the fact now that I will not be able to get everything that I dreamt on. So....... pasrah dan redha lah ya.
We also got news from our mom in law's health condition. While my sis in law holidaying to LA, she had an athma attack. Anak2 tak ada... my hubby is here. So the need to have the new house is just mounting. senonohlah sikit rumah baru ni supaya dia selesa tinggal dengan kita nanti bila my sis in law pergi holiday.
So the decision to have this house with 6 bedrooms settled in. we need it rather than we spend unwisely on this house. Most importantly it is not to show the wealth (memang pun tak kaya) but it is more on getting things functional for everyone's conveniency.

House Project: Kids' room and backyard color
Ok panic has stricken me.
I need to arrange for my budget and fund to be able to fulfill some of my dreams as well as the kids' dream. We bought this house, for its size, for the children. The house was bought to solve some of our current problems. So I need to ensure, we really solve our problem. Some extras added just because it is our dreams. Human dreams.. (Tapi rasa bersalah sekarang kerana while I am planning this, those kids in Gaza have bigger problems. Their house was bombed, occupied and taken away.. Arghhh!)
Anyway, (mode tutup mata cuba lupakan masalah dunia dan berbalik kepada ini dengan rasa yang still bersalah dan tak patut.. I promise this solution will be cheap ok and no extravaganza too much). InsyaAllah nanti kita sedekah ke tabung Gaza ya anak2..... Dah lama "kids project codename sedekah" ni terbantut. Dulu ada juga buat now apa pun tak buat dengan the kids. Next will be the kids project ok! InsyaAllah. Makbulkan dan rajinkan aku yaAllah, lapangkan masaku yaAllah.....
Aku ialah orang yang suka solve problem dengan duit dari melakukannya sendiri. Contoh, malas kemas rumah, hire part time maid. Malas buat props untuk shooting, aku beli props. Malas betulkan paip rumah, aku hire plumber... Ini ialah pengakuan.
So since sekarang aku harus lebih berhati2 dengan cara aku berbelanja (sebab duit dah habis beli rumah) maka it is time now for me to change. And step 1 is to DIY the painting.
Painting vs Wall paper.
Painting aku pernah buat tapi wallpaper aku tak pernah buat. Aku aware ada wall paper yang murah which is RM200 plus boleh cover 1 feature wall dah. But I think painting still cheap? Kalau buat 2 coat I mampu kot? Kalau wall paper, mampu ker aku nak join kan wall paper tu, nak lekat bagai supaya nampak cam pro? Aku rasa aku tak mampu, tak pandai dan memang tak sabar huhuhu....
Yang aku tak mampu ialah nak sand the wall kasik smooth, buat filling bagai, paint with base painting dan painting bercoat coat.... huhu.... But I will try. I have my father in my mind always about this. Bila pikir painting DIY, mesti muka dia muncul dalam otak kepala I. I know he has this talent of ketelitian dalam membuat sesuatu kerja, tapi nak susahkan dia, please lah kan?
Yang aku ada cuma weekend and I have about 3 weeks to finish this project if I want to move by end of December.. I have 3 bedrooms + backyard to paint. Tapi backyard is not priority, I can do that in my own sweet time. Memang gila punya deadline. Tapi deadline mana pernah yang sensible kan. Kalau sensible deadline memang pun akan jadik tak sensible. People works when they are rushed. Sometimes the quality is better sometimes it doesn't. Tengoklah project manager camner....I should be the efficient one coz I have never experienced bad project before yang orang semua cemuh. So I hope I can do the same with my personal project.
Tengok "The Apartment"? Haa.. nak mention. The head judge yang british tu kata "I like it that you blend the bathroom color with black. If it is too white it became clinical...and black is in" cam tulah bunyi nya.... Designer tu color the ceiling and part of the wall with black. So, I think my taste isn't bad for wanting black wall kan?
To save some $$$, I will try with 3 cans of 5litres of different color.
I plan to have green and yellow for baby dylan and baby am's room. They will be sharing the room as at now as Baby am will be sleeping with us anyway. So this will be their playroom and nap room.
DD already expressed her intention to have purple room. So Maybe I will use the soft purple as her feature wall, and the curtains will be dark purple. I hope it could works.
So here is the saving. For some reason DS wanting a purple room as well. I objected that as I think purple is not for a boy's room. Tapi sebab dia nangis guling2 nak gak, terpaksalah I ikutkan. So I plan to tone it down with green paints leftover from the babies playroom. Good idea kan? The above 2 pictures shows that when the 2 colors combined, regardless of which green, it still turns out well.
Chalkboard area
Another project that I like to do is the chalkboard area. I have not decided on where to do this. We have quite a wall, so maybe we can do this later. Anyway, it will not cover a big area a 5ltrs will do. That's the minimum we can buy anyway. One reservation is it would be messy, but I need a wall that could be functional for the kids to conteng2....I need 1 dedicated wall for them to express the urge to conteng the wall. If you have kids you know what I mean. hehehehe....
Backyard planning
Do you like blue? I don't. But just to be sure I do not like it, I have to paste the sample picture here.
But I love this. Oh so sweet.
I know mine is just about 10 feet of backyard. But I have to plan where to put the plant box for the herbs/kitchen garden. Already I have in mind of the outdoor laundry and outdoor kitchen. Though it is not for immediate execution, I just need to plan it first.
It would be nice if I can organize it like the above. So so nice.

Yang aku ada cuma weekend and I have about 3 weeks to finish this project if I want to move by end of December.. I have 3 bedrooms + backyard to paint. Tapi backyard is not priority, I can do that in my own sweet time. Memang gila punya deadline. Tapi deadline mana pernah yang sensible kan. Kalau sensible deadline memang pun akan jadik tak sensible. People works when they are rushed. Sometimes the quality is better sometimes it doesn't. Tengoklah project manager camner....I should be the efficient one coz I have never experienced bad project before yang orang semua cemuh. So I hope I can do the same with my personal project.
Tengok "The Apartment"? Haa.. nak mention. The head judge yang british tu kata "I like it that you blend the bathroom color with black. If it is too white it became clinical...and black is in" cam tulah bunyi nya.... Designer tu color the ceiling and part of the wall with black. So, I think my taste isn't bad for wanting black wall kan?
To save some $$$, I will try with 3 cans of 5litres of different color.
I plan to have green and yellow for baby dylan and baby am's room. They will be sharing the room as at now as Baby am will be sleeping with us anyway. So this will be their playroom and nap room.
So here is the saving. For some reason DS wanting a purple room as well. I objected that as I think purple is not for a boy's room. Tapi sebab dia nangis guling2 nak gak, terpaksalah I ikutkan. So I plan to tone it down with green paints leftover from the babies playroom. Good idea kan? The above 2 pictures shows that when the 2 colors combined, regardless of which green, it still turns out well.
Chalkboard area
Another project that I like to do is the chalkboard area. I have not decided on where to do this. We have quite a wall, so maybe we can do this later. Anyway, it will not cover a big area a 5ltrs will do. That's the minimum we can buy anyway. One reservation is it would be messy, but I need a wall that could be functional for the kids to conteng2....I need 1 dedicated wall for them to express the urge to conteng the wall. If you have kids you know what I mean. hehehehe....
Backyard planning
Do you like blue? I don't. But just to be sure I do not like it, I have to paste the sample picture here.
But I love this. Oh so sweet.
This is the hotpink wall that I want! I love it. I don't care what my hubby will say. I will maintain it anyway and paint it so......please just like it and help to water the plant once in a while yeah!
I know mine is just about 10 feet of backyard. But I have to plan where to put the plant box for the herbs/kitchen garden. Already I have in mind of the outdoor laundry and outdoor kitchen. Though it is not for immediate execution, I just need to plan it first.
It would be nice if I can organize it like the above. So so nice.
